About this project
Team MSX (Mobility Space eXperimental), sponsored by and collaborated with Honda 99P Labs, envisions revolutionary mixed reality (MR) in-car experiences for autonomous vehicles in 2040, transforming family road trips into immersive shared adventures.
By integrating MR and advanced AI, our experiences overlay interactive content onto real-world scenery, bringing history to life, enabling gamified exploration, and fostering collaborative storytelling that strengthens family bonds. Multi-generational engagement ensures kids and parents can explore together, whether through interactive learning, co-op games, or shared experiences that encourage teamwork.
Team MSX imagines future mobility, turning every journey into a meaningful and unforgettable experience so that a trip is not only from point A to point B.

My Roles
Communication
As the team member responsible for client communication, I facilitated weekly meetings by preparing slides, reporting progress, and sharing ideas and insights with our instructor and our client, Honda 99P Labs, to align visions, integrate feedback, and address design challenges. In addition to weekly meetings, I was responsible for developing the project website, writing dev blogs, and creating both midterm and final presentations.

Product Designer
As the product designer on the team, I conducted primary research with daily car users to uncover their pain points during in-car experiences, and secondary research on emerging technologies, including automotive trends, AR/VR, and AI, to better envision and shape the future of in-car interactions.

Our research revealed a shared core value among participants: family. Communication and interaction with family members in a car were highly valued, making them a natural focus for second- and third-row in-car experiences. Building on this insight, we designed and built an edutainment in-car experience demo for families on road trips to Yellowstone National Park, one of the most popular destinations for family travel.

Playtesting was integral to our product iterations. To better evaluate the experience, we created a physical testing environment simulating future car back seats. During playtest day and soft opening, we conducted interviews and collected feedback from participants, which informed further refinements of the product and overall experience.

In addition to the Yellowstone in-car edutainment experience demo, we showcased other AR/VR use cases in our demo video, including gaming, productivity, and relaxation experiences.
I want to thank everyone again for joining and helping us shape the product and future in-car experience on this journey. Certainly, we have seen the future together.
